STEM First Year Experience
Starting Fall 2022
This program is intended for new students majoring in a calculus-based STEM major and are taking either Math 106 or Math 108 in Fall 2022.
Benefits of participating:
- Provide you support with your transition into a stem journey at NVC
- Build connections with your cohort of stem students with similar goals and interests to support each other throughout the academic year
- Specialized attention from FYE faculty, peer mentor, staff and STEN counselor
- FYE social events to build community with students and faculty, which increases sense of belonging
Fall 2022
- Counseling 100: College Success (3 units) with Professor Patricia Posada & Professor Melinda Tran (Hybrid course)
- Participants are required to be in MATH 106 or MATH 108 in any section (Online or In Person-Your Choice)
- Community Building: Ropes course attendance required
- Community Building: Participants are required to attend at least one Community Circulo per semester
Spring 2023
- Participants will be required to attend at least two workshops during the Spring semester
- Participants are required to take a math course in the Spring term (Online or In Person-Your Choice)
- Attend End of Year Celebration
- Community Building: Participants are required to attend at least one Community Circulo per semester
