Dear Napa Valley College Community, The violent death of Mr. George Floyd is an unacceptable and horrific tragedy. It is inexcusable, and intolerable that such actions were committed by those sworn to keep the peace. We write you today to make clear our perspectives, feelings, and commitment to contribute to the healing so desperately needed to help us move forward.
Napa Valley College EOPS and CalWORKs hosted a drive-thru graduation celebration on May 27. Graduates who participated – 28 of the 50 students graduating this year – received a NVC cap and gown, medallion, certificate of completion, snacks, and a congratulation card signed by EOPS staff. During the drive-thru, students and their families were greeted and cheered by EOPS and financial aid staff, who work with about 300 students each year.
Congratulations to María Villagómez, senior dean, language arts, library and social sciences who was appointed to a three-year term to represent Napa Valley College on the Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA) board of directors.
On a hot Tuesday in May, Stacy and her youngest daughter, Abby, drove up to the 900 Building on the Napa Valley College campus, following the signs into the lane for the college’s Food Basket program.
