Napa Valley College and Solano Community College Hold joint 3rd Annual Canvas Day Conference

On December 4, 2020, Napa Valley College (NVC) held its 3rd Annual Canvas half-day conference. Canvas Network is an open space for educators to share, experiment, analyze and create. This year, NVC partnered with Solano Community College, holding the conference virtually in response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and predominately closed campuses.

NVC Student Martina Sanchez Wins November Student of the Month Award

Despite the challenges presented to arts education during distanced and hybrid learning with limited resources, Napa Valley students are prevailing, creating art worthy of recognition. Napa Valley College Theater Arts student Martina Sanchez was one of nine students honored in November by the the Arts Council Napa Valley Education Alliance (ACNVEA). The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Student of the Month awards are presented for excellence in the disciplines of music, theater, and visual & digital arts.

Board of Trustees – November 2020

At the November 12 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board approved the 2021-2022 Academic Calendar, a resolution to exempt the campus student housing project from local zoning and land use ordinances, an MOU with the Institute for Higher Education Policy and a contract with TLCD Architecture for Building 3100. Additionally, an initial Proposal for Negotiations with Union of Classified Professionals was shared with the Board.

Miguel Luna Named Viticulturist of the Year

Miguel Luna, partner, Silverado Farming Company, was named Viticulturist of the Year in Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 Wine Star Awards. Luna took classes at Napa Valley College in 2000-2004 and then again from 2007-2012, graduating with an AS Degree in Natural Science and Math in 2012.
