Board of Trustees – May 2020

At the May 14 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board unanimously approved the contract for Dr. Sara Parker to join Napa Valley College as our Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2020. Ann Volz, The Scion Group, and Stephen Siri, The Martin Group, provided an update on the most recent activities of the campus student housing project and Dr. Kraft provided an overview of current planning for the Upper Valley Campus. It was a night of recognition with resolutions in honor of Classified professionals and another in honor of National Nurses Week. Sally Baldwin, Ph.D. and Lisa Yanover, Ph.D. were both recognized for receiving the NVC McPherson Distinguished Teaching Award for Excellence and Senior Dean Bob Van Der Velde was recognized as Administrative Confidential Employee of the Year. Ann Gross, professor of communication studies, was recognized for her retirement and she and Mary Shea. Both were awarded Emeritus status. Students were also honored: NVC’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society students were recognized as were 43 outstanding scholar athletes for the 2019-2020 year.
