SSAU was founded in 1942 in order to prepare engineers for the aircraft industry. At present, the University is the leading institute of higher education of federal value. SSAU is a large scientific center where fundamental and applied research is carried out, and development work is performed, similar to the University of California system.
I have had an opportunity to be raised in the culture of education. Both of my parents have been professors of physics at SSAU for over twenty years, and since I was a little girl I have been in college classrooms. Every time my parents could not find a babysitter, they would take me with them to their lectures and labs. As a child, I was very excited when I got to go to my parents' classes; as a result of these visits, I wanted to follow in my parents footsteps and become a professor. Once I started teaching in the US, my parents always had advice on best practices in the classroom, so they helped me a lot during the first few years.
I have been teaching a variety of mathematics courses at our wonderful Napa Valley College since 2009.
In addition, I have a Bachelor's degree in English and my first teaching experience took place back in Russia where I taught English grammar to first and second year university students.
