Napa Valley College is continuing to closely monitor the situation around COVID-19 and will continue to adhere to our Emergency Operations/Infectious Disease Outbreak Plan and the guidance from the CDC, public health experts and state officials. We appreciate your patience and understanding as things continue to evolve in this unprecedented emergency.
As of today, no decision has been made regarding the May 29 NVC annual ceremony. However, we are exploring the options of postponing the ceremony and/or providing it in a virtual format. Please look out for a short survey to be sent out to graduating students by the end of this week. We want your feedback on the future of this year's ceremony.
We certainly want to celebrate and recognize our graduates' achievements and milestones and the college is diligently exploring alternatives. We hope to have a decision within 2-3 weeks.
Please take care of yourselves and stay safe!
The Office of Student Affairs is in charge of staging the college's annual Commencement Ceremony, which is traditionally held on the last Thursday or Friday of May. Graduates from the Summer 2019, Fall 2019, and Spring 2020 will be eligible to attend the ceremony. Approximately 300-325 graduates participate in the commencement ceremony each year.
All candidates for graduation must file a petition in the Admissions and Records Office by the ninth week of the semester they wish to graduate. The specific dates are listed in the class schedule each semester. Please refer to the Petitioning for Graduation website for more details and check out the Counseling website for more information on their Graduation Petition Workshops.
The 77th Annual Commencement will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 6:00 PM on the Library Plaza Green (the green lawn in front of the 2000 Life Science Building).
For general questions regarding the Commencement Ceremony, please call the Office of Student Affairs at (707) 256-7362 or stop by Rm 1330 in the 1300 Building.
