Erik Shearer: Professor of Art
Welcome to my instructional homepage. I have been a professor in the art department at Napa Valley College since 2000 and teach courses in painting, drawing, mixed media, design, and professional practices. I earned my MFA in Painting from the University of Oregon and my BA in Painting from Sonoma State University. My professional studio practice focuses on drawing, painting, and mixed media work.
In addition to teaching, I currently serve as the program coordinator for the art department and previously served as gallery director, President of the Academic Senate, and the Chair for the Division of Arts and Humanities, covering programs in Studio Arts, Art History, Theater, Photography, Music, Humanities and Philosophy.

Art Program Information
The art department at NVC offers a breadth of courses to serve the needs of all students in our community and offers multiple degrees geared towards both professional development and transfer to BA or BFA programs in studio arts and design.
Our department is also currently offering a new Associate in Arts for Transfer degree in Studio Arts focused on transfer to the California State University system.
