NVC is saddened to announce the passing of Ailana “Lana” Denison on Jan. 4, 2014, of end stage renal disease. She was 71 years old.

Lana is fondly remembered by her friends and colleagues at Napa Valley College for her breadth of knowledge, expertise with the English language, sense of humor, and care for the students at NVC.  She was a mentor for many, encouraging the professional and educational development of her colleagues and friends.

Lana held a master’s degree in education from Montana State University. She taught English in Montana, until the early 1980s, when she moved to California. Beginning in 1984, she worked at Napa Valley College in the Office of Instruction, the Office of the President, and the Office of Student Services. She was a graduate of Leadership Napa Valley in the early 1990s.
