Writer, David Ives, combines satire, wit, and hilarity in Mere Mortals at the Napa Valley College Performing Arts Center.  Director, Danielle Cain, and a wonderful cast add their own twists, creating an unpredictable evening of fun.  Mere Mortals is a collection of six short comic plays:  FOREPLAY shows us a first date at a miniature golf course that morphs into a discussion of sex, time and love. MERE MORTALS eavesdrops on three construction workers, 50 stories up, as they share the amazing secrets of their past.  In TIME FLIES, two young mayflies meet at a pond and hit it off, only to discover they have a lifespan of only one day—and their lives are half over! Jack and Jill meet at a party in ENGLISH MADE SIMPLE. As they get to know each other it’s revealed that they’re just lab rats in an academic experiment. Will the rats rebel? DR. FRITZ is a wacky surgeon, or a souvenir seller named Maria, or a sick tourist’s worst nightmare. In DEGAS C’EST MOI a man wakes up and decides to be the French artist Degas. The best place to do that is in New York City where he encounters all that makes great art.
