UMOJA

COMMUNITY REQUIREMENTS

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​                    All ​students are encouraged to be a part of the Umoja Community  

    PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS ​​​​

  1. Apply to NVC.

  2. Complete the English and math assessment tool.

  3. Complete college Orientation.

  4. Apply for financial aid at (www.fafsa.gov).

  5. Enroll in 2 Umoja courses each semester  (courses​ are CSU/UC transferable). (fall: COUN 100, SPCOM 126; spring: COUN 110, SPCOM 120).

  6. Submit a completed and signed Umoja Community Application.

  7. Complete a signed Photo Release Form.

  8. Submit a signed Student Consent Form (parental signature required if under 18 yrs. of age).  

  9. Participate in Intrusive Counseling (2 per semester).

  10. Mental Health Counseling (1 per semester).

  11. Participation in all events and activities related to Umoja.

  12. Be a willing and active listener and learner.

  13. Allow your voice and words to be intentional and deliberate: say what you mean and mean what you say. Silence is complicity.
