The Business Skills Center (BSC) is an instructional concept for business skills courses at Napa Valley College. The program is designed specifically for each student based upon his/her own goals (personal or career-oriented) and prior background. Each student will be able to progress at the rate of his/her capabilities and/or other time commitments. Students can enroll in keyboarding and business math classes throughout the semester under an open-entry/open-exit registration system.
This individualized instructional approach uses electronic equipment, computers, and software in a self-paced format designed to develop speed and accuracy as well as job-level proficiency in the business skills courses. Each student will be provided individual evaluation and assistance from the instructional staff.
The program provides for flexible, individualized scheduling. Students may schedule their classes at a time suitable to them during BSC hours. Classes meet three hours per week in either a MW or TTh time block.
Regular attendance is required of all students enrolled in the BSC program. You may be dropped from the course if you do not maintain regular attendance during the semester unless special arrangements have been made with an instructor. You should attend class at your scheduled time each day. If you wish to do extra work during a time for which you are not scheduled, you may do so if the equipment is available. There will additional Lab hours.
