How do I find out if the library has certain books?
You can search the Library Catalog called SNAP (Solano, Napa and Partners Library Consortium).
How do I check out books, CDs or videos at NVC Library?
You need to have a library card in order to check out library materials. It is the same library card as the Napa Public Library because we are all part of the same library consortium.
How can I return books after hours?
You can deposit the library materials at the east side of the Library (Building 1700) in the after-hours book slot. View campus map for location.
Can I borrow textbooks for my classes?
Yes. Many textbooks are available on Reserve at the Circulation Desk. Most Reserve textbooks can be checked out for two hours, library use only.
How do I check to see what materials I have checked out?
You can call the Library Circulation Desk at 256-7400 for assistance or check your SNAP library record online.
Can I borrow books from other libraries or other colleges?
Yes. As part of the SNAP Library Consortium, Napa Valley College students can borrow books from public libraries in Napa and Solano counties in addition to Solano Community College. In addition, as part of the North Bay Cooperative Library System (NBCLS), students have access to more than 3 million items through SuperSearch. To access SuperSearch, go to the "Find Books" link on the McCarthy Library homepage. Students and other community members can put holds on these materials on any computer with Internet access and can expect delivery within a few days (sometimes as quickly as the next day) if the item is not checked out at the owning library.
How Do I reach a Reference Librarian at Napa Valley College?
You can reach a Reference Librarian by calling the Reference Desk at 256-7430 or stop by the library. The reference desk is located on the first floor in the middle of the library directly under the floating classroom.
