The Board of Trustees of the Napa Valley Community College District has officially begun the search for a new superintendent/president. The brochure outlines the characteristics we are looking for in the successful candidate. Please allow me to tell you something about our college that we believe makes this an exceptional opportunity for the right person.
The Napa Valley College community is extraordinarily proud of the campus culture we have created here. To put it simply, we all get along. The Board of Trustees has a tradition of collegial relationships, consensus-building, and strong support for the superintendent/ president. In decision-making, the college is committed to participatory governance, communication, and collaboration. Collective bargaining between the district and employee groups utilizes interest-based bargaining techniques that have resulted in a marked lack of confrontation on our campus. In Fall of 2009, the visiting accreditation team awarded the college a remarkable six commendations. The classroom and teaching are our college’s highest priorities, and the college community is united in its efforts to create an outstanding educational resource for local residents.
It is our goal to have the new superintendent/president in office by July 2013 and will accept applications through February 27, 2013. We welcome your interest and inquiries regarding the position of superintendent/president of Napa Valley College.
