Summary of VINE System Changes starting December 3rd, 2012
The route 5 that currently serves the NVC campus goes away.
The route 10 that now serves the NVC campus is split into two routes (10 and 11).
The frequency of the new routes 10 and 11 vary between once every 30 minutes to once an hour, 7 days a week. (The old route 10 ran only once every 1 to 2 hours). This means at times buses will be on campus as frequently as every 15 minutes. (This is a huge increase in service to the campus.)
Fares for 31 day pass holders for most riders go down.
ALL the local routes in the City of Napa are replaced with new routes and run every 30 minutes instead of once an hour.
The Route 29 to/from BART begins running mid-day Monday – Friday.
Free transfers will now be permitted between any bus line at any stop except between routes 10 and 11 or between any route and the Express route 29.
TIPS for the NVC Campus Community
From Napa to the NVC Both routes 10 and 11 overlap down Trancas and Soscol then on to the campus. The fastest way to get to the campus by bus from Napa is to get to Trancas or Soscol and catch any route 10 or 11 southbound bus. Or, take any local Napa route to the Transit Center, or anywhere along Trancas and Soscol and transfer onto any 10 or 11 southbound bus.
From Vallejo/American Canyon to NVC- The new Route 11 will run between the Transit Terminal and Ferry in Vallejo up to the campus.
A. County-wide Routes
The old Route 10 from Calistoga to Vallejo will be split into two routes (10 and 11) which overlap through the city of Napa. During weekday peak commute times the buses will run every 30 minutes instead of only once per hour. During mid-day and on weekends the buses will run every hour instead of every two hours. The zone fare system (cash and pass) will be eliminated resulting in a fare reduction for some riders. No free transfers will be permitted between routes 10 and 11. See the fare table next page.
B. Regional Routes
Route 20 Napa-Fairfield Express will begin in Spring 2013
Route 25 Napa-Sonoma Express will remain unchanged
Route 29 Express to Vallejo Ferry and BART
C. City of Napa Local Routes
All local city routes will change. Most buses will run every 30 minutes instead of once per hour on weekdays. Fares will not change.
