Napa Valley College’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa will sponsor a Drive Thru School Supply collection effort from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 24. Members of the community are invited to “drive through” and donate school supplies which will then be donated to Change for Kids. The drive will benefit students in K-12 in the Napa Valley Unified School District. According to Rob Holst, president of Phi Theta Kappa and student representative on the college Board of Trustees, Change for Kids is a new organization set up to collect school supplies to donate to all of the schools in the NVUSD. “The idea is that kids grades K-12 don't get enough funding per student to support the supplies needed for adequate education. The teachers then have to buy out of pocket for these supplies,” he says.
The drive will be in the front (main) parking lot on the Napa campus near the flag poles. For more information, contact Rob Holst at WCWROBH6@hotmail.com.
