Man of La Mancha

Auditions

Napa Valley College Repertory Theater will hold auditions for their spring production of Man of La Mancha, on November 16 and 18 at 7 p.m. at the Napa Valley College Theater.

Composed by Mitch Lee with lyrics by Joe Lardon and book by Dale Wasserman, Man of La Mancha is based on the tale of Don Quixote. Cervantes is brought to prison to await a hearing with the Inquisition. The prisoners decide to hold a mock trial in order to find him guilty and steal what seems to be a valuable package. Cervantes presents a play as his defense, with his "jury" actors in the play. Cervantes plays Alhonso Quiana, a man who has set his own reality aside and become Don Quixote De La Mancha.

Those auditioning must be over eighteen years of age and should come prepared to sing 32 bars of a song (ideally from a musical), bring sheet music for the accompanist, and wear clothes that one can move in.

Man of La Manchal will be directed by Napa Valley College’s Artistic Director Jennifer King.  Her teaching and directing credits include work at the California Shakespeare Theater, where she is an associate artist, Dallas Theater Center, The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, Sonoma County Repertory Theater, Napa Valley College, Richland College, Foothill College, Solano College and the University of California, Davis.

Harry Cadelago, Director of the Napa Valley College Orchestra, will conduct.  Fine and Performing Arts Chair, Dr. Eve Anne Wilkes will music direct and Pam Rogers will choreograph the production.

The Napa Valley College Theater is located in building 1200 on the college campus, 2277 Napa – Vallejo Highway, Napa.  For more information, please contact  Jennifer King at 707-253-3209 or jking@napavalley.edu
