AS-T Child and Family Studies

Early Childhood Education AS-T Degree (as approved by the NVC Board of Trustees Spring 2011)

The Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act (Senate Bill 1440) guarantees admission to a California State University (CSU) campus for any community college student who completes an AA-T or an AS-T degree.  All community colleges were required to develop a minimum of two degrees that fit the SB1440 guidelines.  Napa Valley College developed six degrees.  College faculty worked as departments and divisions, and with the larger state Academic Senate/Chancellor’s Office website (C-ID Course Identification Number System, www.c-id.net) to establish set patterns for programs that could be adopted by each institution.

The new Early Childhood Education AS-T degree follows the guidelines established by the C-ID website.  The old Child and Family Studies AS degree will be kept with no changes.

Please note:  All students have to choose between the IGETC pattern or CSU GE pattern to complete their GE requirements for the AS-T degree.  Please see the most recent information on the main college website, schedule and/or catalog, or get help with specific requirements from a counselor.
