Napa Valley College staff development, under the coordination of the Teaching and Learning Center, offers faculty, staff and administrators activities and resources for professional development. The Center's goal is to help all members of the Napa Valley College academic community in promoting professional development through the exchange of innovative ideas, individual expertise, and common interests.

What we do
The Teaching and Learning Center staff coordinates a comprehensive program of individual and institutional professional growth, with responsibility for planning, promoting, and disseminating information and program evaluation. Activities include:
- Flex Day Planning
- On-going Instructional Skills Workshops/Trainings
- New Faculty Learning Communities
- Technology Training
Purpose of Professional Development
The purpose of professional development is to provide opportunities for faculty and staff to increase their knowledge and skills and to improve teaching, student learning, and student success.
Funding Available for Professional Develoment:
Title 5, section 55516 requires each community college district to implement a professional development program for staff and faculty providing SSSP services. Professional development is important to ensure that staff and faculty are up to date with credit SSSP practices and policies. Part-time and adjunct faculty should be included in the professional development activities of the college.
NVC has the wonderful opportunity to engage in professional development activities related to our Student Equity and Student Success Support Program (SSSP) plans and their goals.
