The Fine and Performing Arts Division offers courses exploring the arts and developing the talents of our students, from beginning through advanced levels of study. Our students are also provided with frequent presentation and performing opportunities. The Division also confers Associate Arts Degrees in Arts & Humanities, Art History, Music, Musical Theater, Studio Art, Theater, and Associate Science Degrees in Graphic Design and Photography.
The Fine Arts Department includes fields of study in ceramics, painting, drawing, design, digital art and photography. The Performing Arts Department includes drama, film, and music.
The Fine Art's Art Gallery hosts a series of exhibitions of Guest Artists, NVC faculty, and students’ works. The Potter’s Guild, an extra-curricular student organization in ceramics, also gives NVC faculty and students additional opportunities to present their work.
The Performing Arts area has an extensive schedule of performances throughout the academic year. The Drama Department presents full-stage productions, Theater for Young Audiences, and touring shows. It also combines with the Music Department to present a full-stage musical yearly. The Music Department includes instrument groups: North Bay Wind Ensemble, NVC Orchestra, the NVC Jazz Ensemble; and vocal groups: the College Chorale, Gospel Choir and the Women's Chorale. Also, individual music students perform in voice and music recitals and in a cabaret format.
