Napa Valley Give!Guide 2013

The NVC Child Development Center is honored to have been part of the Napa Valley Give! Guide.  Thanks to the many supporters in the community who value quality of early childhood education and understand that early childhood education is an essential component for a healthy, productive, and engaged future for all who live in Napa, the NVC Child Development Center is the recipient of $1,200.

The NVC Child Development Center teaches children to be creative and engaged lifelong learners who care about each other and the world in which
they live. CDC provides a safe, nurturing and developmentally-appropriate, play-based learning environment for the babies and young children of students at Napa Valley College or Napa residents.

“I’m the first in my family to graduate from college. As a single parent, NVC supported my daughter’s development; the Child Development Center is her second home.”
Norma Ortiz Fernandez, NVC Class of 2013

An integral part of the campus community: the CDC serves as a learning and teaching laboratory school for students enrolled in the Child & Family Studies program at NVC.  As an integrated program, it also serves NVC Criminal Justice Training center cadets, nursing students and other students, enabling them to complete assignments, observations and participate in the classrooms.

Thank you to Voth, Heflebower & Associates at
Merrill Lynch Wealth Management for matching the first $500 received through the Napa Valley Give!Guide in support of the NVC Child Development Center.

About NVC Foundation

Kathleen Lucier and Fred Caspersen Foundation Board members Kathleen Lucier and Fred Caspersen on a campus tour.

The Foundation office offers comprehensive fund-raising for scholarships, programs, instructional equipment, employee development and campus improvement. We work collaboratively with the 24-member volunteer Board of Directors, campus leadership and campus departments to advance the quality of the college’s academic endeavors. The Foundation has five active committees which meet monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly to accomplish the annual and long-term goals.

The Napa Valley College Foundation is a California nonprofit, public benefit Corporation and is tax-exempt as provided by IRS Sec. 501 (c.) 3.  Organized in 1968, the NVC Foundation provides scholarships, supports development of improved methods of instruction, updates classroom and lab equipment, provides needed materials for the college, and supports student success programs.

The office accepts donations and distributes payments from over 200 different funds. The majority of those funds are endowed scholarships, but the Foundation office also has funds or creates funds as needed for grants, instructional equipment and program support.

The Foundation office provides assistance to other departments on campus with their fund-raising efforts, from determining businesses to target, logistically accepting gifts, to the stewardship of the donors.
