What is myNVC?
NVC has implemented a new single credential sign-on authentication system, which will go live on Monday, December 5, 2016. Having single credential authentication in place, is the first step in a larger initiative to create a holistic web portal that will put every online NVC resource important to you in one place.
So what does this first phase of implementing a myNVC portal mean to you?
Well, it changes and standardizes how we login to NVC's online systems. Now you will not have different usernames for different systems. You can login to WebAdvisor, email, and Canvas with one username/password. That means you can easily access the college resources you already use, but you will get some great new ones too!
Besides the existing features of WebAdvisor, we can now provide the following:
- NVC based student email address using Office365 online.
- Full Office365 applications access including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more.
- Easy access to your WebAdvisor information.
- Easy access to the NVC Canvas Online education platform.
How do I login to myNVC?
Logging in with myNVC is easy, but we did need to make a couple of changes to existing student accounts that you should be aware of.
Your myNVC student account has a new username. An email was sent to your currently registered email address with that information. Your new username was made using your first initial, your lastname, the last 5 numbers of your student ID (NOT your SSN), and our new email domain information (@student.napavalley.edu). Your new username username can be used in TWO ways.
1.) For WebAdvisor access, you will only use the first part of your new username.
A WebAdvisor username looks like this: jsmith34567
2.) To access Canvas or Office365, you will use your complete NVC email address.
Canvas and Office365 usernames look like this: email@example.com
Your password also had to be reset to your birthdate in a MM-DD-YY format. Please note that if your birthday has a single digit month or day, you do need to add a zero.
So a birthday of 3/15/92, would make for a password of 031592.
LET'S GET LOGGED IN!
