We Want To Hear From You!
As we celebrate our 75th Anniversary,
Napa Valley College continues to plan for the future – and we need your input!
Join the Community Conversation and let us know your priorities.
Since Academic Year 1942/43, NVC has provided local students with high quality, affordable higher education, job training, and preparation for college transfer. To maintain this momentum, many of our classrooms and facilities must be updated to meet the needs of local businesses as well as our students, faculty and staff – and as we recently saw with the devastating Napa County Fires – fulfill the need for a safe, well-organized community space in times of emergency.
We want to thank the first responders and community volunteers for their heroic efforts in a time of need for so many. The campus and community responded quickly and with heart, including 2,000 volunteers serving 780 evacuees in three shelters, and over 200 pallets of donations to our Campus evacuation center. We also need to thank the many Napa Valley College staff who tirelessly worked to keep our community safe at the Campus emergency evacuation center.
While recent events have highlighted the need to maintain and improve infrastructure, we need to continue the conversation that is well underway as part of our Educational and Facilities Master Plans. As you may know, the College recently commissioned an external community survey to assess interest in a potential 2018 bond to meet facility and educational goals. We were thrilled to learn that the community values the services our college provides, with over 57% of respondents indicating potential support for projects that expand student and veteran services, meet the growing need for STEM labs, and upgrade classroom and training technology.
Survey results show community members are most interested in priorities that include:
- Repairing and upgrading classrooms and science labs
- Updating facilities and classrooms to meet current building earthquake, fire and safety codes
- Supporting teaching and learning in technology, computers, engineering, science, and vocational education
