NVC Alumni Story

"I was not able to go to college while I was younger, so when it was my 40th birthday, I decided to give myself a gift,” says Myrna Abramowicz. Myrna graduated from NVC in 1987, then transferred to UC Davis and completed her bachelor’s degree in in history in 1989. As an elected Trustee of NVC, Myrna states, “I felt that I really represented the students’ voice
because I was in the classroom.”

Active NVC Alumna
Active in the community, Myrna has, as of 2013, been re-elected several times to serve on the board of directors of the Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District since its inception in 2006. She was appointed to the Napa Valley Expo board by Governor Gray Davis in 2000 and continues to serve today. Myrna is also the only original board member of the Friends of the Napa River, an organization which she helped to establish, with the mission to be the community’s voice for the responsible protection, restoration, development and celebration of the Napa River and its watershed.
